With over 100 million recordings sold, Newton-John, a global icon of the 1970s and 1980s, is one of the all-time best-selling recording artists.

Newton-John was born in Cambridge, England, on September 26, 1948, but her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia, when she was six years old.

When she was just 14, she started an all-girl ensemble and launched her singing career. She later made appearances on regional TV programs.

The title tune, a rendition of a Bob Dylan song, was the first of several international hits from her 1971 first album, If Not For You.
